Pittsburgh Expands Career Readiness Program to Connect Students With Local Employers

PITTSBURGH, PA — City officials this week announced an expansion of a career readiness program aimed at connecting students with local employers and preparing young residents for future workforce opportunities.

The initiative will focus on increasing access to internships, mentorship programs, and hands-on learning experiences in a variety of industries. Officials say the effort is designed to help students develop practical skills while exploring potential career paths before graduation.

According to education and workforce development leaders, the program will include partnerships with local businesses, community colleges, and nonprofit organizations. Participating students will have opportunities to attend career workshops, job-shadowing events, and networking sessions throughout the year.

Business leaders noted that early career exposure can help students make informed decisions about education and employment while helping employers build a stronger future talent pipeline. The initiative is expected to benefit both students and the regional economy.

The first phase of the expanded program is scheduled to begin later this year, with additional partnerships and opportunities planned as participation continues to grow.
