PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh Police detectives are investigating two incidents in Garfield and Bloomfield that officials said are being treated as related.
According to the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Blotter, Zone 5 officers were dispatched at approximately 9:15 p.m. to the 5400 block of Columbo Street in Garfield for reports of an assault with subsequent shots fired. An adult male victim told responding officers that two male actors had jumped him and that he then discharged his firearm in their direction, causing them to flee.
The victim sustained a head injury and was transported by Pittsburgh EMS to a local hospital in stable condition, officials said.
A short time later, at approximately 9:45 p.m., an adult male was located in the roadway in the 300 block of Gross Street in Bloomfield with several gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. He was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.
The Mobile Crime Unit responded to process both scenes, and Violent Crime Unit detectives also responded. City officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
