PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police arrested a 15-year-old Friday after a vehicle crashed downtown and officers searched a nearby parking garage, according to the city’s Public Safety blotter.
Zone 2 officers were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle that crashed at Sixth Avenue and Ross Street. Police said the driver ran into the BNY Mellon parking garage and was possibly armed.
Officers searched the garage until the teen emerged near Seventh Avenue and Ross Street. Police said officers used a Taser after he threatened them with a knife. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for medical evaluation.
The city said the teen faces charges including receiving stolen property involving a motor vehicle, driving without a license, simple assault by physical menace and resisting arrest. The allegations have not been proven in court.
