PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police officers, detectives and supervisors were slated to receive awards at an October 16 ceremony in downtown Pittsburgh, according to a pre-event announcement from the city. The city also said a civilian would be recognized for quick action during a life-threatening situation.
The city identified Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando, Public Safety Director Sheldon Williams and Mayor’s Office Chief of Staff Dan Gilman as the officials who would honor police personnel for exemplary work.
The announced awards ranged from the Recognition of Excellence to the Purple Heart. The city’s October 16 notice described the ceremony in advance; it did not report that the awards had already been presented.
The ceremony was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, October 16, in the second-floor auditorium of PNC Tower at 300 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh.
