Pittsburgh Sets July 3 Holiday Closures and Facility Hours

PITTSBURGH, PA — City of Pittsburgh administrative offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day, according to a corrected city notice published Monday.

The city said several public facilities and services will also be closed or operate on limited schedules over the holiday weekend. CitiParks outdoor pools will run holiday hours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Friday, while McBride and Sue Murray pools will operate from noon to 5 p.m. Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, pools are scheduled for regular hours, except that McBride and Sue Murray pools are closed Saturdays. Homewood Pool remains closed for renovations.

Healthy Active Living Senior Centers will be closed Friday. Recreation centers will be closed Friday and Saturday. The Mellon Park Tennis Bubble will keep regular hours Friday, close Saturday and return to regular hours Sunday. Schenley Roller Rink will be closed Friday and Saturday and return to regular hours Sunday.

The city said trash and recycling collection will not be affected by the holiday and will continue on the normal Friday schedule. Residents can place trash and recycling at the curb before 6 a.m. on collection day or after 6 p.m. the evening before. The notice also points residents and visitors to Pittsburgh’s Independence Day celebrations, including a weeklong series of ceremonies, concerts, family activities, public art and community events tied to the city’s holiday programming.
