PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh public safety officials said an arrest warrant was issued for Jacob Aaron Cooper, 22, in connection with a July 6 apartment fire at 301 Wood Street, and later updated the notice to say Cooper had been taken into custody by Downtown Public Safety Center officers.
According to the city notice, Fire Investigation Unit detectives filed charges that include aggravated arson, three felony arson counts, causing or risking catastrophe, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person.
The city said the update followed the public release of information in the case and thanked residents who shared the notice. Officials also noted that the corresponding photograph had been removed from the city post and should not be further disseminated.
The case was announced through Pittsburgh’s Public Safety Blotter. The city asked anyone with information connected to the investigation to call Fire Investigations at (412) 782-7646.
