PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh Police Zone 3, City Council District 3 and the Hilltop Alliance are offering free steering wheel locks Thursday afternoon as part of a vehicle-theft prevention effort.
The giveaway is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. July 30 at Venson Park, 700 Gearing Avenue. City officials said nearly 250 locks will be available while supplies last.
The event is sponsored by Erie Insurance. Public Safety Director Sheldon Williams, District 3 Councilmember Bob Charland and Pittsburgh Police Zone 3 Sgt. Andrew Robinson are expected to attend.
Officials organized the distribution in response to vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles across Pittsburgh in recent years.
