Pittsburgh Police Investigate Attempted Abduction of Teen on North Side

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police are investigating an attempted abduction reported early Monday at a gas station on the North Side.

Zone 1 officers were dispatched at approximately 12:15 a.m. to the Sunoco in the 300 block of Cedar Avenue, according to a City of Pittsburgh Public Safety blotter.

A man told officers that his 15-year-old daughter was sitting in the back seat of his car while he was inside the convenience store. Police said an unknown man opened a rear door and attempted to grab the teenager.

The girl suffered a scratch to her leg but was otherwise unharmed and declined medical attention. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
