PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh emergency crews rescued a woman after an exterior staircase partially collapsed at a Mission Street residence, according to the city’s Public Safety Department.
Pittsburgh EMS and Pittsburgh Fire were called at approximately 6 p.m. to the 2500 block of Mission Street. Responders found that the woman had fallen about 20 to 25 feet to the ground below.
EMS Rescue crews used a rope system to extricate her and moved her to safety in a Stokes basket. She was transported to a hospital in stable condition with injuries to her lower extremities.
Inspectors from the Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections assessed the structure and secured the affected area. The city said residents would not be required to leave the property while inspectors work with the owners to stabilize and repair it.
