PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police are investigating after a man was fatally shot early Wednesday in Homewood, according to an official Public Safety release.
Police said Zone 5 officers responded at 5:05 a.m. to a one-round ShotSpotter alert in the 7000 block of Idlewild Street. Arriving officers found a man unresponsive in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Officers applied a chest seal and provided aid until medics arrived, the release said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not included in the release.
Two people were later detained for questioning. Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating, and the release did not announce any charges.
