PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh city offices will close Monday, September 7, for Labor Day, with changes planned for trash collection, recreation facilities, parking and streets during holiday events.
The Department of Public Works will not collect refuse, recycling or bulk waste on Monday. Collections will shift back one day for the rest of the week: Monday routes will be serviced Tuesday, and Friday routes will be completed Saturday.
The Strip District recycling drop-off site at 3001 Railroad Street will remain open, while the city’s other recycling drop-off locations will close for the holiday.
CitiParks recreation centers, Healthy Active Living centers, Schenley Ice Rink and the Mellon Tennis Bubble will be closed. Bloomfield, Highland, Jack Stack, Magee, Moore and Ream pools will open for the final day of the season, with adult lap swim from noon to 1 p.m. and family swim from 1 to 5:45 p.m. Spray parks will also remain open.
On-street and off-street Pittsburgh Parking Authority meters will be free Monday, while authority garages will use holiday rates. The city also advised residents to expect road closures tied to RibFest, the Steelers 5K, Soul Food Fest and the Labor Day Parade.
