PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police are investigating an assault that left a store employee injured in Oakland late Tuesday night.
Officers from Zone 4 were dispatched shortly after 9:30 p.m. to the 300 block of North Craig Street for a reported aggravated assault, according to the City of Pittsburgh’s Public Safety Blotter.
Police said responding officers found an adult woman outside with a facial slash from an unknown weapon and a significant bruise to her head. Paramedics transported her to a hospital in stable condition.
According to the official account, the encounter began inside the store where the woman works. Police said a man was unplugging items to charge his phone when the employee confronted him and led him outside, where he allegedly assaulted her.
The man fled the area on foot. Police said detectives are investigating, and the Mobile Crime Unit processed the scene.
