PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a woman dead near Frankstown Avenue in Homewood on Tuesday evening.
Zone 5 officers were dispatched shortly after 6:30 p.m. to the 7200 block of Frankstown Avenue after two ShotSpotter alerts detected a total of 20 rounds, according to a City of Pittsburgh Public Safety release.
Officers found the adult victim in an alley behind Frankstown Avenue near Forest Way with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence, including recovered shell casings, and investigators were reviewing available video footage. Police said no arrests had been made as of the release.
The investigation is being led by Violent Crime Unit detectives.
