Body Recovered From Allegheny River Near Downtown Pittsburgh Bridges

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh River Rescue recovered a body from the Allegheny River near downtown Saturday morning, according to city public safety officials.

River Rescue was dispatched at approximately 11:15 a.m. to a barge near the riverbank between the Roberto Clemente Bridge and the Andy Warhol Bridge after a body was reported among river debris.

Officials said there were no overt signs that the death was suspicious. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death and identify the deceased.

Crime Scene and Violent Crime Unit detectives also responded as part of standard procedure, the city said. Officials did not release additional details.
