PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh has received two state grants totaling more than $1.2 million for a new fire truck and housing redevelopment in the city’s Hilltop neighborhoods, Mayor Corey O’Connor announced Wednesday.
An $800,000 Statewide Local Share Account grant will help the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire purchase a new pumper truck. The city said state Sens. Wayne Fontana and Lindsey Williams secured the funding as part of efforts to maintain a modern, reliable fire apparatus fleet.
A separate $450,000 grant secured by Fontana will support the Pittsburgh Land Bank’s work to stabilize Hilltop properties for future rebuilding and housing redevelopment.
The Local Share Account program funds public-interest projects through gaming revenue distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
