River Rescue Pulls Man From Allegheny River Near Roberto Clemente Bridge

PITTSBURGH, PA — Emergency personnel rescued an adult male from the Allegheny River near the Roberto Clemente Bridge early Monday morning.

Units from the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS and River Rescue, alongside the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, were dispatched to the bridge area just after midnight on October 12 after receiving reports of an individual in the water.

First responders located the man in the water along the river wall, where a bystander was using a tree branch to provide him with something to hold onto until rescue crews arrived. River Rescue personnel arrived moments later and threw a personal flotation device to the man before bringing him aboard their vessel.

EMS divers evaluated the individual and took him to shore, where he was subsequently transported to a hospital in stable condition.
