Pittsburgh Expands Community Technology Centers to Bridge Digital Divide

PITTSBURGH, PA — City officials this week announced an expansion of community technology centers aimed at improving digital access and closing the digital divide across Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

The initiative will establish new centers equipped with computers, high‑speed internet, and training resources in underserved areas. Officials say the program is designed to provide residents with the tools needed for education, job searching, and everyday online services.

According to program coordinators, the centers will offer workshops on basic computer skills, digital literacy, and online safety, along with more advanced training in areas such as coding and data management. Partnerships with local nonprofits and educational institutions are expected to support program delivery.

Community leaders emphasized that expanding access to technology can create new opportunities for residents while strengthening workforce readiness and economic mobility. The initiative also aims to support students and small businesses adapting to increasingly digital environments.

The first phase of new centers is expected to open later this year, with additional locations planned based on community demand and program success.
