Pittsburgh Expands Digital Literacy Programs to Bridge Technology Access Gap

PITTSBURGH, PA — City officials this week announced an expansion of digital literacy programs aimed at improving technology access and skills among residents across Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

The initiative will focus on providing training in basic computer use, internet navigation, and online safety, with additional courses covering job search tools and digital communication platforms. Officials say the effort is designed to help residents better participate in an increasingly digital economy.

According to city leaders, the program will include partnerships with libraries, schools, and community centers to offer free classes and resources. Mobile training units will also be deployed to reach underserved areas with limited access to technology.

Education experts noted that strengthening digital literacy can improve employment opportunities, support lifelong learning, and reduce barriers to essential services such as healthcare and government programs. The initiative is expected to benefit individuals of all ages.

The first phase of the expanded program is scheduled to begin later this year, with additional sessions and resources planned as community participation grows.
