PITTSBURGH, PA — The City of Pittsburgh has extended operations at four Healthy Active Living (HAL) Senior Centers to serve as cooling centers through Sunday, July 5, 2026, to protect residents from ongoing extreme heat.
The designated cooling centers will be open to all residents from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing a safe, air-conditioned space, hydration, and heat safety information. The city continues to urge residents, particularly seniors, families with young children, and individuals with chronic medical conditions, to limit outdoor activities and take advantage of cooling facilities.

- Greenfield HAL Center: 745 Greenfield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217
- Homewood HAL Center: 7321 Frankstown Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208
- Sheraden HAL Center: 720 Sherwood Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15204
- South Side HAL Community Center: 12th & Bingham Streets, Pittsburgh, PA 15203
City public safety officials advise residents to monitor neighbors, keep pets indoors, and drink plenty of water. Seniors needing assistance or information about transportation can contact local senior services or call the city’s main information line.
