PITTSBURGH, PA — CitiParks will mark the 25th annual Alphabet Trail and Tales at Frick Park’s Blue Slide Playground on Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The City of Pittsburgh says the family reading event is free and open to the public.
The event will place larger-than-life story sets from A to Z along more than a half-mile of park trails. Professional storytellers, artists, entertainers and youth-serving organizations will join families for music, games, art and crafts.
The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will present the 2026 Pennsylvania One Book, Every Child selection, The Great Cookie Kerfuffle, written by Jessica Shaw and illustrated by Pauline Gregory. The City also lists Pittsburgh Puppet Works, the Carnegie Museum of Art, Reading Is Fundamental, Animal Friends and Eat’n Park among participating organizations.
Mayor Corey O’Connor congratulated CitiParks on the milestone, and Parks and Recreation Director Eric Sloan said the event helps kick off the department’s fall programming.
